Naming your repo entry

Keep your entry names clear, concise, and specific. Your repo entry name should include:

• The name of the project or product you’re researching
• The main research goal(s) in 3-5 words

Formatting

Your repo entry name should be formatted like:

• Project or product name: research goal(s)

The project or product name should start with an action formatted as a gerund (i.e. the action verb should end in “-ing”). The research goal(s) should start with a present tense verb. Avoid using the research method name in your title and instead add the method as a tag (see Adding a method tag below). For example:

• Improving library search experience: test search box design preferences
• Creating the “Who can access library services & spaces” page: choose prototype & name page
• Naming the open access textbook program: get student feedback

The exception to these guidelines are our creative projects, which include fun talk-back boards or other projects where there is not an organizational research goal. For creative projects, format your entry as:

• Creative project: project goal

For example:

• Creative project: write monsoon haikus
• Creative project: understand students’ career preparedness

Naming multiple entries for the same project

For an entry that’s part of a broader project, use the same project or product name for each entry that’s related to that project. For example:

• Redesigning the “Borrow technology” pages: testing the prototype
• Redesigning the “Borrow technology” pages: improve category names
